FAQ
Yes. There are no credits, no paid tier, no watermark and no daily limit. The tracing runs on your own device, so a vector costs nothing to serve. The SVGs you make are yours to use, commercially too, as long as you have the rights to the image you traced.
No. The tracing engine runs inside your browser and your images are never sent anywhere. You can check in your browser's network panel. The only other requests the site makes go to page-view analytics, which you can switch off. After the first visit the tool also works offline.
Not a faithful one. Chat assistants and image generators draw a new picture: an image generator returns pixels (PNG, JPEG or WebP), not paths[2], and an SVG written by a chat assistant is redrawn from a description of your image, so letters, spacing and shapes can shift. Vectorize.tools traces your own pixels into editable paths: every curve follows an edge that is really in your file, which is what cutting machines, lasers and print shops need.
Logos, icons, clip art, stickers, drawings, signatures and scans: anything with flat colours and clear edges. Photos work too, but they come out as poster-style art made of colour shapes, not a photo-realistic copy. For a photo of a product or a person, remove the background first, for example with Clipout, so the tracer does not spend its colours on the backdrop.
You choose from 2 to 32 in colour mode, or one colour in black and white mode. Each colour becomes its own set of shapes. Layers set to Cut out makes the colour areas sit side by side without overlapping, which is what vinyl cutting and screen printing want.
Yes. Cricut Design Space uploads SVG files as vector images[14]; set Layers to Cut out first so the colours sit side by side. Silhouette lists SVG import among the features of Silhouette Studio Business Edition[15]; without it, use the PNG export with Silhouette's own trace.
Yes. LightBurn[16][17], Glowforge[18] and xTool Creative Space[19] import SVG files. The shapes are filled, so set each one to cut, score or engrave in your laser software. The Drawing preset (one colour, smooth curves) gives the cleanest cut lines.
It makes the vector you digitize from. Embroidery machines need stitch files (PES, DST and others), which you make from the SVG in embroidery digitizing software, such as the free Ink/Stitch for Inkscape[20]. Fewer colours means fewer thread changes, so start with 4 to 6.
The SVG has no fixed size: it scales to anything without losing sharpness, and it opens at the size of your original image. The PNG export goes up to 8,192 pixels on the longest side on a computer and 4,096 on a phone.
